Safety of Smartphones

A lot of safety comes down to common sense. We know not to put a knife in the toaster, or put electricity anywhere near water but how about crossing busy roads while our eyes are glued down at our Smartphone?

It seems we are leaving our health and safety in the hands of motorists as we hope they will see us, slow down and give way to us just so we can carry on our interactions with FaceBook / Email and the like. Is all this really critical – ie can’t we just wait a few moments until we reach our destination and safely use our phones there?

This was the inspiration for my book “A Plea to a Connected Society“.

What do you think? Is this becoming a major problem for society? Or do we just leave it up to everyone to look after themselves?
